CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Issue of INFOR
on
Scheduling in Distributed and Cellular Systems

INFOR is pleased to announce its intention to publish a special issue on the topic of Scheduling in Distributed and Cellular Systems. The issue is devoted to scheduling models and algorithms in automated and/or autonomous small sized cells distributed geographically or logically, and connected by means of a com mon communication network. Topics of the special issue include but are not limited to:

・Scheduling in distributed manufacturing systems (DMS)

・Robotic cell scheduling

・Project scheduling in DMS under resource constraints

・Vehicle routing and scheduling in cellular systems

・Scheduling in automated store and retrieval systems in DMS

・Scheduling in supply chains

・Scheduling with communication delays

・Scheduling in distributed computer and communication systems

Efficient exact and heuristic scheduling algorithms for cellular systems
New models and/or new approaches for the above problems that are useful for industries are asked. Successful applications of software packages to practica l scheduling problems in DMS are also welcome.
Please send four (4) copies of each paper to one of the guest editors at the address below. All papers will be refereed according to the usual standards of INFOR and should conform to the instructions to authors found in any issue of INFOR.

Deadline for submissions: June 15, 1999

Outline of Guideline for Contributors
  1. The text should be typed in double-spaced, single-sided format for possible publication in INFOR.
  2. The title and abstract should be concise and clearly understandable by INFOR readers. Key words should follow the abstract.
  3. INFOR does not use footnotes. Acknowledgements of financial and other support should come immediately before the Bibliography.
  4. Fractions should be typed on one line, for example, a/b, and other mathematical notation should be simplified as much as possible. Only
essential mathematical development should be appear in the text, and extensive derivations should be placed in an appendix, if possible.
  5. References should be appear in the text with author's name and year of publication: "See Smith(1987)". The Bibliography section
at the end of the paper should list the full references alphabetically by author.
  6. Original figures should be prepared with black ink, suitable in size and quality for photographic reproduction. Captions should not appear
on the figures but should be listed on a separate sheet, and the correct number should be pencilled on the back of each figure.
  7. Submission of a paper to INFOR is taken to imply that it has not been published nor is being considered for publication elsewhere.
